Embroidery kit in cross stitch - Marie Antoinette's pineapple at Versailles palace large cushion - Museum and Heritage Collection
The Queen’s private apartments at the Palace of Versailles are an intimate space, away from the splendour of the Grand Apartments. Located on the ground and first floor, they are accessed through the small door that can be seen in the Queen’s Bedroom of the Grand Apartments. These Private Apartments, also known as the Interior Cabinets, were recently restored and hung with a splendid indienne decoration known as the Queen’s Large Pineapple. The original was printed at the Oberkampf Manufacture in Jouy. The current version was made by the famous Maison Pierre Frey. For this cross-stitch interpretation, I reduced it a lot, so as to obtain an attractive repeat pattern to embroider.
This cushion is taken from our spectacular pattern dedicated to indienne fabrics.
Size of motif: 348 stitches wide by 259 stitches high.
When embroidered on 12 count (per cm) linen, the finished project measures 58 x 44.2cm.
Size of finished cushion: 58 x 44.2cm.
This kit contains:
- full-colour pattern chart printed on two 60 x 28cm sheets of paper;
