Pattern chart in cross stitch - Marie Antoinette's tapestry small cushion - Museum and Heritage Collection

This is not a fabric, but a detail from a tapestry sewn in petit point by Marie-Antoinette and Madame Élisabeth (the youngest sister of Louis XVI). Sewn in fragments, first in the Tuileries prison and later at the Temple prison (from June 1791 to August 1792), the Duchess of Angoulême, during the reign of LouisXVIII, assembled all the pieces and added a border. As far as I know, this tapestry is not visible in the Palace of Versailles, but it was part of an exhibition at the nearby Domaine of Madame Élisabeth in 2013 (just a stone’s throw away from the Palace).
Here is a pattern chart to realize a large cushion with main motif and bordures of these moving tapestry. This chart is taken from our spectacular pattern dedicated to Marie-Antoinette. This full-colour pattern chart is printed with all necessary explanations on two 60 x 28cm sheets presented folded in a Sajou folder.
Size of motif: 173 stitches wide by 173 stitches high. When embroidered on 12 count (per cm) linen, the finished project measures 29 x 29cm.
We recommend using our mole coloured linen and our Retors du Nord embroidery thread. You will need the following colours: 2004, 2023, 2028, 2033, 2042, 2227, 2469, 2567, 2570, 2615, 2876; 11 cards.
This design is also available as a complete kit. You will find everything to make a cushion backed with a cotton fabric. Discover our collection of Versailles and Marie-Antoinette themed products.
