Cross-stitch kit - Small Tinctorial Plants - Museums and Heritage Collection
This cross stitch kit contains all you need to embroider a table of small tinctorial plants derived from our spectacular Tinctorial Plants project in the Museums and Heritage Collection. Woad, Dyers rocket, madder and woodruff, indigo and parsley are all plants found on road sides and gardens. Many tree leaves can also be used for dyeing, such as the walnut leaves forming the frame of this embroidery. As for the little touches of pink in the leaves, these are not flowers, but cochineals! These little insects (Coccus Cacti) give a whole range of magnificent colours from pink to the brightest of reds.
Size of motif: 180 x 180 points. When embroidered on 12 count/centimeter linen fabric the finished dimensions are 30 x 30cm.
