Pair of embroidery scissors tortoiseshell style - S for Sajou model
These embroidery scissors have tortoiseshell effect handles and reproduce the Sajou "S". The finger rings are beautifully decorated with a festoon detail. The pompom on these scissors has a small medallion with a hollowed out “S” in the same material as the scissors. The finished article is a very light pair of scissors that are a delight to use.
Size: 11.8cm - Sajou stamp on the upper blade.
Presented in a carboard box, the design may vary according to our stock. A label on the inside cover explains the manufacturing process.

These scissors, including the pompom, are entirely MADE IN FRANCE. It should be pointed out that it takes a dozen qualified people to make each pair.
An important detail enables us to judge the quality of a pair of scissors; the pairing marks - the number which you can see on the interior of each of the blades( you will notice the number 13 on the photos presented here). This number is different on each pair of scissors and indicates that both parts have been paired together from the first assemblage to make a perfect match. After the first fitting, the scissors are taken apart and each shear undergoes the different processing operations before being reassembled and finished.
In the 19th century such scissors would need the craftsmanship of a cutler for the steel blades and an ornamental turner for the mother of pearl work. Nowadays the distribution of the work is quite similar: the blades are still made by a master cutler, and the handles are created in our own ateliers.
