The History of the Lebaufil Brand

Lebaufil is a historic French sewing thread brand. Originally based in Roubaix, in the north of France, it was acquired by Ets Toulemonde. The brand was created in 1946, building on the foundations of the older company Lepoutre-Wibaux Fils, founded in 1860. This company specialized in waxing cottons and producing twisted threads for weaving. In 1880, François Lepoutre succeeded his father and was later joined by his wife, Jeanne Wibaux. To develop new activities, the Lebaufil brand was created, focusing especially on elastic threads, which were considered highly modern in the 1950s and sold under the name Lastex.

Elastic and Metal Threads by Lebaufil

We offer a wide range of coloured shirring thread. The metal threads are made of real metal, unlike the metallized Fil Au Chinois threads, which consist of a metalloplastic strip wound in a contiguous coil. Additionally, Lebaufil offers polyamide beading threads and elastic beading threads, known as Cordelastic.
