This pattern chart corresponds to the period from 1882 to 1934 when Maison Sajou was located 74 boulevard Sébastopol, after more than 30 years in the rue Rambuteau (subject of the third cross stitch pattern chart).
The company is directed by Claude Cabin’s son and in 1885 he is joined by his son in law, Georges Lefèvre.
The district is lively with a large part of the businesses being in textile and haberdashery.
The writer, Léon-Paul Fargue (1876-1947) evoked his youth in Le Piéton de Paris: “We browsed through the boulevard like an album. We knew all the all the shops, the underwear at Cour Batave, the furniture of the Petits Agneaux, the Sajou embroiderers, the Suzor bobbins…”
Here we find a Sajou logo inspired by the one on the large albums of whitework and filet lace.
This cross stitch pattern is part of a series of six which traces the history of Sajou from 1842 through the relaunch in 2005. Part of the Museums and Heritage collection, it's derived from the large poster chart dedicated to the history of Maison Sajou.
It's printed in colours on a A3 format and presented in a Sajou folder.
Size of motif: 90 x 90 points.
We recommend you to embroider these motif on our Sajou blue 12 count linen with
Retors du Nord embroidery floss n°2234 and n°2876.
