This coat of arms and motto can be found on the entrance to the Chenonceau Château, whilst the initials can be found in many of the rooms inside.
TBK are the initials of Thomas Bohier and his wife, Katherine Briçonnet.
The motto of the château, “If I manage to build Chenonceau, I shall be remembered” shows the magnitude of the construction.
Katherine Briçonnet played a key role in the architectural choices, whilst her husband was in Italy alongside François I.
This project is derived from the large Museums and Heritage pattern chart dedicated to the Chenonceau Château.
Size of motif: 182 stitches wide by 122 stitches high.
When embroidered on 12 count (per cm) linen, the finished project measures 30.3 x 20.3cm.
