Cross stitch chart - History of the indienne floral fabrics - Museums and Heritage Collection

This spectacular cross stitch pattern chart was conceived by Frédérique Crestin-Billet. It was inspired by the gorgeous world of indiennes floral fabrics and their eventful history. The composition of different elements represents cross-stitch interpretations of floral fabrics with exotic patterns, each embroidered on a different coloured linen square. These squares are then sewn onto the mustard background, which evokes the yellow colour of the indiennes dyed with turmeric. The coat of arms of the French East India Company appears at the top of the chart.

Size of motif: 345 x 345 points - 57.5 x 57.5cm on 12 count linen.
This embroidery represents around 350 hours of work.

This pattern chart is presented in large poster format measuring 68 x 80cm, making it easy to follow the motif. The poster is printed in matt so you can write on it and mark all the references you may need. On the back of the poster, you will find all the explanations for the embroidery and the historical texts.
Presented in a Sajou folder.

  • one large 70cm square of 32 count (12 threads per cm) linen fabric, colour mustard;
  • fourteen 14cm squares of 32 count (12 threads per cm) linen fabric: sand, orange, lime green, pearl grey, thyme, tea, off-white, scarlett, azalea, frog, pink, bark, cyclamen, brown;
  • 40 cards of Retors du Nord embroidery thread in 34 colours: 2004, 2005, 2007 x 2, 2013 x 3, 2016, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 x 2, 2027, 2028 x 2, 2032, 2033, 2034, 2038, 2180, 2223, 2234 x 2, 2242, 2302, 2340, 2350, 2409, 2445, 2469, 2536, 2540, 2570, 2749, 2818, 2832, 2838, 2857, 2876.
