The present Maison Sajou was relaunched in 2005 by Frederique CRESTIN-BILLET, following a career in publication where she edited and created numerous illustrated books. Frederique started collecting vintage haberdashery at a very young age, especially colour charts, thread boxes and the famous little Sajou albums.
The Sajou webstore opened the 25th May 2005 at a time when online haberdashery sales were in the pioneer stage. The success was immediate, notably abroad in Japan, USA and all across Europe.
From the start, Frederique Crestin-Billet put the emphasis on French-made goods, long before local sourcing was as popular as it is today.
The first products were reeditions of vintage Sajou albums and postcards, quickly followed by scissors and pattern charts. The creation of Retors du Nord embroidery floss in 2009 was the start of a long collaboration with Ets Toulemonde, resulting in the addition of the whole Fil Au Chinois range.
In 2014, the Museums and Heritage Collection was born. A spectacular series of cross stitch pattern charts evoking all aspects of French cultural and textile heritage.
Our fabric collection was launched in 2018, which led naturally to the development of a range of fashion and home accessories.
Open in 2013, our Sajou Paris store unfortunately had to close in November 2019, victim of the Covid 19 crisis.
However, you can now find a large selection of our products at Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche, shop 2 floor 2.
