N°8 ecru cotton thread for boutis - Lebaufil
It is used for stuffing the tunnel patterns in the boutis, the lines in between the main motifs.
This ecru cotton yarn has a diametre of 1.25mm consisting of 4 strands which can be split for more delicate motifs.
The ball weighs 100 grammes and contains roughly 190 metres of yarn.
Sold under the Lebaufil brand (ref: 8030) this product is MADE IN FRANCE.
This yarn can also be used for knotting, a much quicker quilting technique, not restricted to patchwork. Knotting was used in days gone by to give volume to eiderdowns. Some quilters use this yarn to make piping for the borders of their quilts.
It is also excellent for knitting and crochet.
Lebaufil is a French brand created in 1946 in Roubaix, in the North of France. It was taken over in December 2015 by Ets Toulemonde. Lebaufil were originally specialists in elastic sewing threads. This is still the case but they have added other specialist products to their range including roving and cotton yarn for boutis.
