Find inspiration for customising our checkered natural and ecru linen tea towels with letters from our Sajou albums
and charming crowns of flowers matching the tea towel colours.
Whether you embroider a simple small letter or a more sophisticated motif, discover the pleasure of turning an everyday object into a thing of beauty.
You can also turn it into a true work of art that can become a decorative piece, like a table runner.
The Sajou albums are full of letters that you can embroider as simple initials or compose words indicating, for example, the intended use of the tea towel.
Historically, Sajou albums are monochrome, and we have respected this single colour in our reeditions.
But nothing stops you from letting your creativity run free by adding a touch of colour, as we have done with the ATELIER (workshop) motif below.

The word CUISINE (kitchen) is embroidered with letters from the Sajou green album 653,
and the word ATELIER (workshop) is created with letters from the Sajou green album 656.

Savoir-faire for embroidering multi-letter words from the Sajou albums
To avoid mistakes when composing a word with multiple letters, we recommend downloading our blank grid.
Without necessarily transferring the entire motif of each letter, position the outline of each one with enough space to separate them.
This will make it easier to count the total space needed to position the word correctly on the tea towel.
Download the blank cross stitch grids in A4 or A3 format.
And for the words we embroidered as examples, we offer the already composed charts.
Download the charts with the words CUISINE (kitchen), ATELIER (workshop), MAINS (hands), OFFICE (pantry), VERRES (glasses),
and even CHÂTEAU DU BELVÉDÈRE (Belvedere Castle).
We love these letters from the Sajou blue album n°6, which we used to create the titles of our embroidery thread ranges and our embroidery scissors chart.
For the record, the Château du Belvédère is the name of Madame Sajou's family home.

On checkered tea towels, don’t worry if the motif doesn’t fit exactly within one square; it often looks better when the embroidery overlaps the fine inner lines.
Customise your tea towels with our small crowns of flowers
We had fun embroidering all the small crowns from our Sajou red album n°912, matching them to the colours of the tea towels.
You can do the same with albums n°913 and 914, which feature traditional French costumes.
