Embellishment on our Coquecigrues indienne fabric
Our Tonkin embroidery floss contains a strand of Lurex, which is ideal for giving a sparkly touch to a fabric.
Here we have used it to embellish our Coquecigrues fabric, which lends itself perfectly to this.
It is easy to sew and great fun, and will no doubt inspire you to do the same on other favourite fabrics.

Stitches used:
- Fly stitch : used for the inside of one of the animals. It is worked with a single strand of Tonkin floss.
- Straight stitch : used for everything else, simply embroidered with two strands of Tonkin floss.
The embellishment process:
The embroidery of the body of one of the animals, worked in fly stitch, is explained in detail in our video.
For straight stitch, the idea is to partially re-embroider certain motifs, using this stitch as a colouring palette to add depth.
The key is to follow the natural direction of the motifs, as shown in our video with the embroidered leaf example.
It is also important to take advantage of the fabric’s characteristics: the flowers and leaves are often outlined in a different colour from their interior.
Have fun by just embellishing parts of the flowers, as we did in our video.

The raised effect and the Lurex strand in the Tonkin floss create a truly magical effect!
If you have embroidered your design on a fabric swatch, you can turn it into a tote bag, a cushion cover,
a project bag, a small pouch for your lingerie, a book cover, etc.
