With this complete embroidery kit, you will be able to embroider the spectacular cross stitch pattern conceived by Frédérique Crestin-Billet and inspired by the legendary Bayeux Tapestry. This one is, in fact, an embroidery mixing stem stitch, straight stitch and laid work. Cross stitch was chosen to make this project available to all levels of embroiderers.
Size of motif : 337 x 337 points.
The Bayeux Tapestry is immense measuring almost 64 metres in length, so choosing just a few scenes was not easy. There had to be boats, horses and a few of the main figures. A map was added to point out the places evoked in the Bayeux Tapestry. As for the tassels, they are there to show the seven colours used in the original embroidery. All this is explained in detail on the back of the large pattern chart.
This poster chart measures 68 x 80cm, making the motifs easy to follow. It is printed on matt paper so you can use a crayon to mark reference points when needed. Apart from historical details, the back of this chart has all necessary explanations for the embroidery and tassels.
This kit contains:
a large 70cm square of 32 count (12 threads per cm) embroidery linen fabric, colour sand;
25 cards of Laine Saint-Pierre in 7 colours: 422 x 5 - 450 x 4 - 648 x 5 - 762 x 3 - 814 x 3 - 845 x 3 - 930 x 2.
the large 68 x 80cm poster, printed on matt paper.
Presented in a lovely Sajou cardboardbox re-usable box. The single embroidery pattern chart is also available. We also have smaller kits and pattern charts derived from this main project.
In our Madame Sajou diary section, you will discover the secrets behind the creation of this chart, the second one in our Museums and Heritage collection.
