Black lace embroidery scissors limited edition
Warning: Last items in stock!
This exceptional pair of scissors is in a numbered limited edition.
It is made from real lace captured in a layer of crystal acetate.
The interior of each box contains a label indicating the number of the pair of scissors.
The scissors and pompoms are made in France.
Each pair of scissors requires the intervention of twelve qualified people.
They are presented in a Sajou box printed with a Toile de Jouy motif designed by Jean Baptiste Huet dating from 1799 called The Gift to Love.
Size of box: 12cm x 6cm x 2cm.
An important detail enables us to judge the quality of a pair of scissors; the pairing marks - the number which you can see on the interior of each of the blades( you will notice the number "18" on the photos presented here). This number is different on each pair of scissors and indicates that both parts have been paired together from the first assemblage to make a perfect match. After the first fitting, the scissors are taken apart and each shear undergoes the different processing operations before being reassembled and finished.
In the 19th century such scissors would need the craftsmanship of a cutler for the steel blades and an ornamental turner for the mother of pearl work.
Nowadays the distribution of the work is quite similar: the blades are still made by a master cutler, and the handles are created in our own ateliers. The difference with the vintage models is that ours are more solid and extremely light, making them a joy to use.
