Aelfgyva and Harold Bayeux Tapestry in cross stitch

Availability date:
These two cross stitch pattern chart comes from the large pattern chart created by Frédérique Crestin-Billet evoking the Bayeux Tapestry.
One is Aelfgyva, the only woman on the whole Tapestry! I could not miss out on this scene, even though it is one of the most enigmatic. Some think it could be William’s daughter, betrothed to Harold. The cleric in question inflicts a slap on her cheek lest she should forget the importance of her engagement, in the same manner that knights were dubbed. It is possible that the tower on the right evokes the interior of the Rouen Château.
The other one is Harold: King Edward has died. Despite the sermon made to Duke William and against the will of the late king, Harold claims the throne. The scene is shown here with, on the left, two characters in ceremonial gowns giving Harold the royal symbols in the presence of Archbishop Stigant. This scene is not on our main Bayeux embroidery pattern. However, it is the scene I used to determine which colours of Laine Saint-Pierre should be used.
This full-colour pattern charts are printed on a large 60cm x 29cm sheet of paper and presented in a Sajou folder.
Size of each motif : 88 points 73 points.
If sewn on 12 count embroidery linen: 15cm x 12,5cm.
To respect the historic spirit of Bayeux Tapestry, these motifs should be sewn sand coloured embroidery linen. To embroider you will need the following Laine Saint-Pierre cards: 422 x 1 - 450 x 1 - 648 x 1 - 762 x 1 - 814 x 1 - 845 x 1 - 930 x 1.
You can find the complete kit for this pattern here.
The motif coronation of Harold can also be found on a round box to embroider.
