Breteuil box Toile de Jouy cross-stitch kit
Warning: Last items in stock!
The yellow flower motif motif of this embroidery was inspired by the Breteuil fabric, printed in days gone by at the Oberkampf Manufactory in Jouy.
This motif comes from the cross stitch large pattern chart evoking the history of the making of Oberkampf’s Toiles de Jouy.
It is embroidered in cross-stitch over two threads of fabric using two strands of Retors du Nord. Easy and amusing, it is perfect for novices.
The kit contains:
- a piece of mustard coloured linen fabric,
- a card of Retors du Nord embroidery floss with the six colours necessary,
- a cardboard disc and a piece of wadding,
- a round tin (height 4cm - Ø 7,3cm) and a decorative sticker for the edge,
- pattern chart with all explanations for mounting.
Presented in a cardboard Sajou box.
Mounting instructions are included in the kit, but you can also find them in “Madame Sajou’s Diary".
This motif is a cross stitch interpretation of a fabric once printed at the Oberkampf
manufactory in Jouy en Josas. People automatically think about the printed red characters
when evoking Toile de Jouy. However, the production at the manufactory was infinitely
richer than that: the floral and geometric motifs printed at Jouy are estimated
at over 30 000, whereas the character prints only number around 200 motifs.
