It contains 12 bright tones miniature thread cocoons.
They are polyester thread same quality as our Polyvalent thread.
Each cocoon contains approximatively 15 metres.
Dimensions of the box: diametre 4.7 cm - thickness 1.8 cm.
It opens by a small key on the side, just like a tin of shoe polish.
On the back, an other label on the back indicates the contents.
All our sewing and embroidery threads are MADE IN FRANCE.
People automatically think about the printed red characters when evoking Toile de Jouy. However, the production at the manufactory was infinitely richer than that: the floral and geometric motifs printed at Jouy are estimated at over 30 000, whereas the character prints only number around 200 motifs.
This metal tin is part of the “Sajou for the Toile de Jouy Museum” collection,
fruit of a partnership between Maison Sajou and the museum. It is the latest addition
to our Museums and Heritage section, whose goal is to help people discover
the French textile heritage and its’ history. Storage boxes, haberdashery items, paper rolls,
but also embroidery pattern charts using the theme of fabrics once printedat the Oberkampf manufactory, can all be found in the Sajou for the Toile de Jouy Museum section.
