Classic steel dressmakers' pins
Large choice of quality steel dressmaker's pins made in France
Sajou offers a wide selection of high-quality steel dressmaker's pins, all made in France. A good pin should be both fine and rigid enough, with a perfectly shaped point that can easily pierce through all kinds of fabrics without damaging them or leaving marks.
Whether for sewing, patchwork, or delicate work, you will find the right pins for every use: light fabrics, heavy materials, or fine silks. All our pins combine finesse and optimal hardness for smooth and precise work.
As with needles, until around 1880, pin production was predominant in Germany, particularly in the region of Aachen, and in Redditch, England. Both pins and needles were often produced in the same factories. In The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith, published in 1776, the British author describes in detail the eighteen different steps necessary to make a pin — three of them just to form the head. He even adds that “wrapping the pins in paper is a separate profession in itself.”
