Embroidery thread Retors du Nord
The Maison Sajou cotton embroidery thread made in France
Our embroidery floss is called Retors du Nord, as a tribute to the region where it is produced: the North of France. It was created by Frédérique Crestin-Billet, founder of Maison Sajou. Discover its story in our blog, Madame Sajou’s Diary. Most of the projects in our Museums and Heritage collection are stitched with Retors du Nord.
Main characteristics: Retors du Nord is 100% cotton, composed of four separable strands. Slightly finer than DMC threads, it is appreciated for its sheen and its ease of use on fabric. Its silky appearance makes it the perfect thread for all cross-stitch projects and traditional embroidery stitches.
For ecological reasons, this thread is not colourfast: it does not withstand high temperatures. We recommend washing at a maximum of 40°C and advise against using bleach.

The different presentations of Retors du Nord
Our Retors du Nord embroidery floss is available in several formats to suit all your embroidery projects:
- 20-metre cards: practical and aesthetic, they are ideal for small projects and organised storage. With this format, there’s no waste: every thread is used down to the last strand.
- Assortments: presented in elegant boxes, they are perfect for discovering or gifting our range.
- 1,000-metre cones: suited to large-scale projects requiring significant quantities of thread.
Like all our embroidery threads, Retors du Nord is MADE IN FRANCE. Its production respects the environment and our artisanal values.
