Press fasteners
Here we have press fasteners presented on cards, like those found in haberdasheries of yesteryear. Press fasteners, also called snap buttons, popper buttons, press stud were invented around 1850, at a time when buttons were not widespread. They did not add much to the decoration of a costume but had the advantage of being cheap and practical. Some were available on ribbons with fasteners every 3cm for sewing on dresses and blouses. Press fasteners were presented on decorative cards, which followed the fashion of the times. Certain were quite large and perforated, so the client could buy the quantity required.
